Harlequin Kids
Background
Australian brand Harlequin has been supplying iconic school bags to students for nearly 30 years, with over six million kids across the country carrying their designs.
Harlequin approached Playceholdr to migrate their eCommerce operations from Magento 2 to Shopify, aiming to refresh their digital presence and modernise their platform. We led a complete UX/UI redesign that stayed true to their brand identity while improving the overall user experience. Our team handled a full data migration, including products, orders, and customers, and integrated the new Shopify site with Cin7 Omni to support their operations.
To elevate the shopping experience, we implemented smart search and merchandising using Fast Simon, and built a custom bag designer that lets parents and kids create their own bag with clip art, text, and over 1,000 design variations. Harlequin’s updated Shopify store now reflects the quality and care they’ve delivered to schools for decades and is built to support the next generation of students and shoppers.

Playceholdr built our dream website—and working with them has been nothing short of phenomenal. From the very first conversation, the team at Playceholdr impressed us with their transparency, deep expertise, and thoughtful communication. The entire process of building our new Shopify site—from initial design right through to go-live and after-care—has been absolutely seamless. For the first time, we feel like we have a true partnership with our developers. A special mention must go to Alex, their brilliant Managing Director. Alex is one of the best professionals I have ever worked with—insightful, ridiculously knowledgeable, calm under pressure, and just an all-round legend. He is going places. His consultative approach gave us complete confidence every step of the way. We came to Playceholdr with big ideas, and they delivered beyond expectation. We couldn’t be more grateful or more thrilled with the result.
